Methodology

Each day uses five current UK rental listings. You guess monthly rent once per property. Score is round(100 × max(0, 1 − error / 0.4)) where error is the relative difference from the listed price.

The affordability line uses ONS ASHE median gross weekly earnings for the local authority (region if missing), converted to monthly take-home with a flat 32% tax and NI approximation. It is a comparison, not advice.

After you lock in, we count whether guesses came in low, high, or exact, so you can see how you compare. The counts are anonymous. After the National five, extra regional boards are offered when we have five unused listings in that region. The regions are North West, West Midlands, London, Scotland, South East, and South West.

Slider range is 0.3× to 3.0× the district median for that bedroom count, on a log scale. The day resets at midnight Europe/London.

Photo policy: listing images are hotlinked from the source CDN unless terms require a text-and-map fallback. Licence to display photos and prices in a consumer product is a launch gate.
